Koi CBD is not only one of the leading CBD manufacturers in the country, but they’ve also been hailed as having some of the best tasting CBD products. I recently got my hands on a varied batch of established and new Koi products ranging from topicals to tinctures to edibles to see how they stack up against other CBD products. Overall, Koi delivers a comprehensive product line for every type of cannabis consumer including pets.

Broad-Spectrum Benefits

Behind every Koi product lies their CO2-extracted CBD isolate and broad-spectrum CBD oil, referred to as “Koi Prizm.” Their THC-free CBD oil comes from organically grown hemp from Colorado. Using supercritical CO2 extraction methods and post-process purging, Koi removes organic plant matter, solvents, and as much THC as possible for a non-intoxicating experience.

Lab tests displayed online show insignificant levels of THC below the legal limit, which won’t make you feel high. Their broad-spectrum blend of CBD comes with other therapeutic cannabinoids (CBG, CBC, CBN), terpenes, flavonoids, and fatty acids found in organic hemp.

Drinks

Koi’s beverage line is a recent addition to their CBD offerings and may not be fully available everywhere. Each 12-fluid ounce bottle contains 10 mg of CBD. I tried the tangerine and kiwi-strawberry flavors, both reminiscent of popular sports drink flavors. They even add minerals and electrolytes to keep you hydrated.

Koi’s tangerine drink had a tangy and tart flavor and a similarly sweet aroma when you put it up to your nose. The kiwi-strawberry drink’s flavor had a strong kiwi aroma that wasn’t overshadowed by the sweet and slightly sour taste of strawberries.

My only gripe was the use of Stevia to sweeten the drinks, which give them a faint chemical-like taste. It’s important to note that I’m not a fan of Stevia in most products.

Tinctures

Koi’s “Naturals” tinctures come in six different flavors: strawberry, spearmint, peppermint, lemon-lime, orange, and natural. You can choose between multiple strengths such as 250, 500, 1,000, and 2,000 mg of CBD. I got to try the 1,000-milligram varieties for a few weeks. Compared to other CBD oils I’ve tried, Koi’s flavors are very enjoyable. You can even mix and match oils such as strawberry and lemon-lime to create new and exciting flavors.

It’s natural flavor hardly tasted of hemp, which makes it perfect for people with a sensitivity to different flavors. Although all the tinctures tasted pretty good to me, my favorite would have to be the spearmint flavor.

Gummies

Gummies are one of the most popular CBD products around. Koi makes regular and sour tropical fruit soft gummies. Each gummy morsel is roughly about the diameter of a quarter and contains 4 mg of CBD. I enjoyed eating both gummy types, but I preferred the regular tropical gummies over the mouth-puckering sour gummies.

Balm

I got the most use out of Koi’s healing balm, which contains a who’s who of essential oils including peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, sweet basil, spearmint, lavender, ginger root, cinnamon, lemongrass, Roman chamomile, ravensara, and helichrysum oils. I really liked the mentholated and complex aroma of the balm that had earthy and natural-smelling notes. Its smooth and creamy texture glided across my fingers wherever I felt an ache and pain.

Effects

As a novice to the CBD world, I’ve done plenty of research, but I have limited first-hand experience. I took a full tincture dropper twice daily, once in the morning and at night. The effects of CBD are hard to assess, especially if you’re figuring out dosage and experimenting with different brands. Although I can’t attribute my physical and mental improvements to Koi’s CBD products, I will say they do have a minimal anxiety-relieving effect, although it’s hard to say if its due to the CBD or other self-care activities.

Koi has plenty of other products including a travel size balm, lavender hand and body lotion, CBD pet spray and bacon-flavored chews, vape juices, and cartridges. I don’t usually have a sizeable selection of CBD products, but it was nice to try out each and zero-in on what I liked. My favorite products were the balm and tinctures. Although I didn’t notice a significant change, I didn’t feel any worse in terms of stress and physical pain. Ultimately, CBD’s effects are cumulative, but I’ve had a promising start with Koi’s CBD products.
